Games currently playing: Kingdom Hearts Unchained X/Union Cross, Brave Frontier, Fire Emblem: Awakening

Hello readers! I am so happy to say that today marks the 1-Year Anniversary of Whimsically Theoretical!! Yaaayyy!!! At this time one year ago, I had been writing for a different music website, and while that was a great experience, I wanted to begin focusing on music that I was passionate about, which was not being showcased over there. I decided to take a chance and start my own website, sending cold e-mails and soundcloud messages to video game composers I found online (ADreamer and Schematist were the first two! ^_^). It has been such a beautiful journey, and I have learned quite a lot in just one year!

As a celebratory post, I am proud to announce that I am about to start a new series on Whimsically Theoretical! The series will be called “Single-Track Analysis“, and will focus exclusively on mobile game music. I’ve noticed that music from mobile games has not received much attention yet, so I am here to provide some love ^o^ ❤

To kick-start the new STA Series on Whimsically Theoretical, I will be posting *~ONE ARTICLE A DAY~* next month in April, all focusing on music from Kingdom Hearts Unchained X (which is soon changing its name to Kingdom Hearts Union Cross). Some of the tracks will be found ONLY in KHUx, but some of them are originally in other Kingdom Hearts games.

This means that there will be 30 articles exclusively focused on Kingdom Hearts music!!!! The specific content for each article will vary immensely, depending on what musical aspects stick out to me, as well as what music lessons I believe can be taught from each specific track. It could be about instrumentation, arrangement, rhythm, tonality… You’ll have to wait and see! 😉

Stay tuned for the new STA series! It will begin with Kingdom Hearts, but I plan on including tracks from Brave Frontier, Final Fantasy Brave Exvius, Puzzle & Dragons, Phantom of the Kill, Tales of Link, Two Dots, Orbit Legends, Pokémon GO, and more!
